The Trainer Behind the Leash
I'm Junior, a balanced dog trainer based in West Yorkshire. I help overwhelmed owners transform their chaotic dogs into regulated and reliable companions they can confidently trust, indoors and in public, by building the right foundations.
My Experience
Built on Real Experience
Most of what I know, I learned on the other end of the leash: walking, caring for and working with dogs of all kinds. Then I backed it up by studying dog behaviour properly, so I understand why it all works.

Walking other people's dogs, learning the basics and sharpening my handling and communication on every walk.

Helping out in the kennels: meeting the dogs' needs, walking them and socialising them with people.

Showing owners how to train, walk and live with their chaotic dogs, so they can feel confident with them again.

My Own Chaotic Dog
Living with a chaotic, reactive dog let me put everything I was learning into practice, and rebuild his behaviour from the ground up.

Studied dog behaviour with the British College of Canine Studies, on top of years of my own learning.

What I Believe
These are the ideas behind my sessions. They're also why my training looks different from a lot of what you'll find online.

Regulation Before Expectation
A dog in a constant state of stress, frustration or over-arousal struggles to cope, let alone learn. We get your dog into a state where they can cope and take guidance. Only then do we raise what we expect of them.

Foundations Hold Everything Together
You can't have high ceilings without building the floors first (or the walls, for that matter). Weak or missing foundations are a recipe for disaster, now or further down the line, because everything you build rests on them.

A Team, Not a Battle
It's not about controlling your dog. It's about working together, and raising a dog you can trust, who wants to work with you, makes good choices and listens to you.

Tools Have a Place
Around 90% of what I teach is reward-based. But I do believe tools have a place in creating clear communication with our dogs. They sit on top of good foundations, never instead of them.

You Do the Work, I Show You How
Someone could hand you a trained dog, but if you don't know what you're doing, the training soon falls apart. My job is to make sure you know exactly why you're doing it, not just what to do.
My Story
Why I Do This
I struggled with my own chaotic dog for longer than I should have. I made a lot of mistakes, skipped the foundations and constantly battled with his reactivity. When I looked for help, I was told putting him down was the better option.
Instead, I discovered balanced training, studied dog behaviour properly and started rebuilding things with him from the ground up, with the right foundations, until he became a regulated and reliable companion. That's the process I teach now.
I don't want other owners wasting time struggling to actually help their dog when they could be enjoying them.
